This course explores the use of a dark therapy space as a medium to treat children with specific disorders. The course looks at the benefits of a "dark therapy session" as well as provides each learner with specific examples that can be used or adapted in the clinical setting. This entry-level to intermediate course is appropriate for occupational, physical, and speech therapists and assistants.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, each learner will be able to:

  1. Identify and discuss at least seven benefits to treating a pediatric client in a dark setting.
  2. Discuss at least three different treatment strategies to use in the dark.
  3. Understand the importance of safety when working in the dark and how to provide a safe treatment setting.
  4. Identify pediatric clients who may benefit from a dark therapy session.
