Introduction

This course introduces sensory dysfunction commonly seen in autism spectrum disorders, MR, and other sensory processing disorders. You will learn how sensory processing works, what happens when something goes wrong, and how to develop a comprehensive, sensory-based treatment program to address the client's individual needs. This course is appropriate for entry and intermediate level therapists who currently work, or plan to work with individuals with sensory processing issues.

2. Identify common sensory processing problems. 
3. Define a client's state of adaptability. 
4. Recognize common inappropriate behaviors. 
5. Identify seven factors that lead to inappropriate behaviors. 
6. Identify the four components to a complete sensory-based program. 
7. Demonstrate specific treatment strategies to counter sensory processing problems.
